In May 20, 2015, the newly posted Customs’ Area Comptroller for Lilypond Ijora Command, Comptroller R.O Olubiyi paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the Lekki Free Zone to familiarize with the Zone’s operation and guarantee Nigeria Customs support for the Lekki Free Zone project.

On arrival, the Comptroller was received by the Managing Director, Mr. Ding Yonghua, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Adeyemo Thompson and other Management Staff of the Zone. Issues bothering cooperation between LFZDC and the Nigerian Customs Services were discussed with both parties promising to ensure that the relationship that has existed between the Nigerian Customs Service and LFZDC will be strengthened to facilitate efficient and effective service delivery.

The Managing Director also seized the opportunity to inform the Area Comptroller about the proposed Customs Processing Centre (CPC) being built by LFZDC and due for commissioning in July 2015. Mr Ding Yonghua (MD, LFZDC) also highlighted some challenges facing the zone in terms of Federal Government Tariffs & Incentives which are also applicable within the customs territory; thereby discouraging investors to invest in the Lekki Free Zone.
