LFZDC Commissions Lekki Gas Distribution Project and Power Plant in Partnership with NIPCO Gas and NGML
The Lekki Free Zone Development Company (LFZDC) is excited to announce the commissioning of the Lekki Gas Distribution Project and the Lekki Power Plant, developed in partnership with NIPCO Gas and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Gas Marketing Limited (NGML). This initiative marks a significant step in advancing the Lekki Free Zone as a hub for industrial development.
In November 2022, LFZDC signed a Gas Infrastructure and Development Agreement with the NGML-NIPCO Gas Joint Venture (JV) to provide natural gas to industries and the power plant within the zone. This newly developed infrastructure has a capacity of over 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, with a 24-megawatt gas-based power plant to support industrial operations.
“This project is a major milestone for LFZDC, leveraging Nigeria’s natural gas resources to boost economic development and attract more industries to the Lekki Free Zone,” said the Managing Director when the event held on 28 August 2024.
The LFZDC has yet added to its current advantage which includes its proximity to the seaport, export promotion benefits, and improved road connectivity, which enhance logistics for businesses. The natural gas distribution network established by NGML-NIPCO Gas JV extends along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and supplies gas to industries in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Abeokuta, Ogun State.
With these new developments, the Lekki Free Zone is set to strengthen its position as a leading destination for industrial growth in Nigeria, driving economic expansion and opportunities.
