On November 2, the China–Africa High-Level Healthcare Cooperation Forum, jointly hosted by the Embassy of Nigeria in China and the China Europe International Business School, was held in Beijing.

The forum was attended by His Excellency Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Nigeria; Hu Meiqi, Deputy Director of the Center for International Cooperation of the National Health Commission of China; Professor Xu Dingbo, Essilor Chair in Accounting and Associate Dean of the China Europe International Business School; and more than 200 representatives from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, the China–Africa Business Council, and pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

Under the theme “BUILDING BRIDGES, Connecting the Future,” the forum aimed to establish a platform for market cooperation between China and Nigeria in the healthcare sector and promote greater business interaction and exchange between the two countries.

Professor Muhammad Ali Pate presented Nigeria’s healthcare development strategies, policies, and prospects. He called for stronger cooperation and exchanges between China and Nigeria in the healthcare sector and encouraged Chinese enterprises to participate in the investment, development, and improvement of Nigeria’s healthcare system.

During the forum’s panel discussion, a representative of the Lekki Free Zone spoke on the theme “Expanding into Africa’s Healthcare Market: Addressing Challenges and Seizing Opportunities.” The representative introduced the Lekki Free Zone and shared practical development experience based on the Zone’s growth journey. Participating companies were also invited to visit the Lekki Free Zone in Nigeria for further assessment and exploration of investment opportunities.

Following the forum, representatives of the Lekki Free Zone held discussions with several pharmaceutical companies on Nigeria’s business environment and the development and investment opportunities available within the Lekki Free Zone.
