On December 3, 2025, a delegation from the Nigeria Customs Service, led by Assistant Comptroller-General Daniyan, who oversees Free Trade Zones and Industrial Incentives, paid an inspection and working visit to the Lekki Free Zone.

The delegation highly commended the significant achievements recorded by the Lekki Free Zone in recent years in promoting local economic growth, advancing industrialisation, creating employment opportunities, and fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities. The delegation noted that the Lekki Free Zone has become one of the fastest-growing free zones in Nigeria, with one of the highest levels of industrial concentration and one of the most comprehensive governance systems.

During the discussions, Assistant Comptroller-General Daniyan expressed strong expectations for the next phase of the Zone’s development. He encouraged the Lekki Free Zone to intensify its investment-promotion efforts, accelerate the implementation of high-quality projects, and continuously strengthen its service capacity and core competitiveness. He emphasised that enterprises operating within the Zone must strictly comply with customs regulations and free-zone policies, maintain a transparent and well-regulated business environment, and set a positive example of compliant business operations.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited several enterprises within the Zone, including their production workshops, warehousing and logistics centres, and operational facilities, to gain first-hand knowledge of their activities. The delegation praised the companies’ advanced production processes, efficient and standardised operational management, and vibrant production and sales activities. It also recognised the important role played by the Lekki Free Zone in promoting manufacturing clusters, strengthening supply-chain systems, and enhancing export capacity.

After nearly 20 years of development, the Lekki Free Zone has achieved comprehensive connectivity across essential infrastructure, including water, electricity, gas, roads, telecommunications, and port facilities. In policy implementation and internal governance, the Zone maintains close and long-standing cooperation with resident government agencies, including the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force. Together, these institutions have helped create a safe, stable, transparent, and efficient business environment.

The Lekki Free Zone continues to strengthen its public-service capacity, optimise its operational and management systems, attract new industries, and improve support services for enterprises. These efforts are aimed at advancing the Zone towards higher standards and more sustainable growth, while establishing it as one of the most competitive industrial and manufacturing hubs and preferred investment destinations in Nigeria and the wider West African region.
